British Values
At Fairfield Spencer Academy, British Values are an integral part of school life. They are taught through our curriculum, assemblies, enrichment opportunities and everyday interactions, helping children develop as respectful, responsible and active members of society.
Our whole-school approach encourages children to understand their rights and responsibilities, value diversity and contribute positively to their communities. Through our curriculum and our global themes of Community, Sustainability and Innovation, children develop the knowledge, understanding and character needed to thrive in modern Britain.
Democracy
Children are encouraged to share their views, make decisions and understand that their voice matters. Opportunities to develop democratic understanding are provided through Pupil Leadership, class discussions, pupil surveys and whole-school decision making. Children learn to express their opinions respectfully, listen to the views of others and appreciate that different perspectives contribute to stronger outcomes.
The Rule of Law
Children learn the importance of rules, laws and responsibilities in creating safe, respectful and successful communities. Our SPARK values help children understand the behaviours and attitudes that enable everyone to thrive. Through everyday school life, assemblies and the wider curriculum, children learn about fairness, justice and the consequences of choices and actions.
Individual Liberty
We encourage children to become confident, independent learners who are able to make informed choices. Within a safe and supportive environment, children learn about their rights, responsibilities and personal freedoms. Opportunities to develop this understanding are provided through PSHE, online safety education and wider curriculum experiences.
Mutual Respect
Respect is at the heart of our school community. Children are taught to treat others with kindness, consideration and empathy, regardless of differences in background, beliefs or experiences. Our SPARK values and curriculum help children develop positive relationships and understand the importance of showing respect to everyone.
Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs
Children are provided with regular opportunities to learn about and appreciate different cultures, faiths and ways of life. Through Religious Education, PSHE, our curriculum and our assemblies, children develop an understanding of the diverse world in which they live. We are proud to welcome visitors who share their experiences and perspectives, helping children celebrate diversity and develop an appreciation for different beliefs and traditions.
